Hints to Help Learn Countries of Africa


Occasionally we stumble onto interesting pieces of information that help us learn faster and retain longer. Some of these may take imagination, but others are so obvious that we wonder why we didn't think of it sooner. Here are some that we have found.

Chad/Grad. In Africa, the country Chad is shaped like a Grad (a student at graduation with the flat 'mortar-board' hat).Thanks to Bunceton Geography Club

Chad/Sudan. In Africa Chad and Sudan are right next to each other as in Chad sued Dan. Thanks to Claire -- a visitor to our site.

Namibia/Mailbox. Namibia is shaped like a mailbox. Thanks to a visitor to our site.

Somalia 7. Somalia is shaped like the number 7. Thanks to Bunceton Geography Club

Ivory Tooth. The Ivory Coast is shaped like an ivory tooth. Thanks to Bunceton Geography Club

An-GOL-a: Golden Retriever. If you study closely, it looks like the nose of a golden retriever to the east, and little feet at the bottom with ears that stick up. Thanks to a visitor to our site.

Benin/Nigeria. From west to east, you can say i've been in (Benin) Nigeria! Thanks to a visitor to our site.

Ghana/Togo. Think of a foreign restaurant. Can I have some Ghana To Go (Togo) please? Thanks to a visitor to our site.

Madagascar - Malawi - Mali - Mauritania - Morocco. Alphabetically, these 5 countries are all in a straight line from southeast to northwest.

Cameroon / Chees Piece. Cameroon is shaped somewhat like the Horse/Knight chess piece.

Six/S. Six countries of Africa begin with the letter "S."

EgypTian. The country of Egypt is shaped somewhat like a 'tea pot' (handle on the right side).

Namibia/Net. Namibia is shaped somewhat like a net (handle on the right side). Thanks to Bunceton Geography Club

While reciting the counties of Kansas in alphabetical order, remember that before Peter Jennings and Walter Chronkite, there was a newscaster named Douglas Edwards -- and alphabetically, Douglas county is followed by Edwards county.

While reciting the counties of Pennsylvania, notice that there is a county shaped like a bear. Most bears live in the forest -- so remember that Forest county is the county that is shaped like a bear.
